Greensboro Task Force to Study Citizen Review Board Issues 

The Greensboro Task Force to Study Citizen Review Board Issues will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, March 10 at 12 noon in the Plaza Level Conference Room of the Melvin Municipal Office Building (300 West Washington Street). This gathering will be to establish a meeting schedule for the group as well as to discuss procedures for the group to follow.

The purpose of the Task Force is to address the issue of whether or not Greensboro should establish a citizen review board to assist citizens who wish to file complaints alleging police misconduct. The Task Force will be asked to examine the positives and negatives of citizen review boards and prepare a report for City Council with their recommendations by July 1, 1999. Any recommendation in favor of the creation of a citizen review board would include proposals as to structure, operating procedures, funding, staffing and extent of power and authority.
