Parking Division Announces New "ParkCard"

The Greensboro Department of Transportation’s Parking Division today announced the debut of their new ParkCard. The ParkCard works as a debit card and is for use in downtown parking meters. Individuals who purchase a ParkCard may use it in place of coins to purchase time in parking meters.

The ParkCard may be used at the Federal Place/Washington Street surface lot only, as part of a pilot program. If successful, this technology will be installed in other parking areas in the Central Business District.

The ParkCard vending station is located on the Plaza Level of the Melvin Municipal Office Building (300 West Washington Street) in the Police lobby. Purchasing instructions are printed on the machine as well as information about adding more money value to the card.

Robin Davenport, Parking Operations Manager, noted that, "The ParkCard brings parking in downtown Greensboro to a whole new level of technology. We hope that citizens will take advantage of this alternative means of paying for parking."
