Black History Month Events at the Greensboro Public Library

The Greensboro Public Library has scheduled a number of events to celebrate February as Black History Month. Included in these events are videos of the Greensboro Sit-Ins and a writing contest.

A new video about the Sit-Ins, as well as WFMY video footage of the event, will be shown at Central Library, 219 N. Church St., on Friday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 pm and on Monday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 pm.

In addition, the Library and the Greensboro Sit-In 40th Anniversary Committee are sponsoring a writing contest for middle and high school students. Students may write essays or poems about what the Sit-Ins mean to them today, and prizes will be awarded. All Guilford County middle and high school media specialists have been given information about the contest to pass along to students. For more information, call 297-5002.
