Greensboro City Council Encourages Support for School Bonds 

Greensboro City Council members unanimously adopted a resolution in support of Guilford County Public School bonds at last night's (April 18) Council meeting. The resolution encourages Guilford County citizens to vote for the proposed $200 million school bond funds on May 2, 2000.

The resolution reads as follows:

WHEREAS, the City of Greensboro acknowledges the importance of adequate public school facilities in order to ensure that the proper learning environment exists for the children of Guilford County;

WHEREAS, the City believes that excellent educational and job training opportunities are essential for the growth of our local economy and quality of life for our citizens;

WHEREAS, the proposed $200 million school bond funds will address critical capital needs for the Guilford County Public Schools.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Greensboro City Council supports this bond referendum and encourages all Guilford County voters to vote for it on May 2, 2000.

In passing the resolution, Mayor Keith Holliday noted that a solid education is one of the most important things we can give to Guilford County students. "With the passing of this bond we can ensure a proper learning environment for our next generation of community leaders."
