Governor Requests SBA Assessment for Guilford County

This morning (Thursday) Governor Hunt formally requested a Small Business Administration (SBA) assessment for both Guilford and Alamance Counties. The assessment will survey the extent of uninsured economic loss and physical damage from last week's storm. SBA teams will be in both counties on Friday, June 2 and Monday, June 5 to determine if the storm damage meets criteria necessary for the SBA Disaster Loan Program.

The purpose of the SBA's Disaster Loan Program is to offer financial assistance to those who are trying to rebuild their homes and businesses in the aftermath of a disaster. By offering low-interest loans, the SBA is committed to long-term recovery efforts.

In order to qualify for these low-interest loans, 25 homes and/or businesses must be identified with 40+ percent uninsured loss. If you meet this criteria, please call Greensboro-Guilford County Emergency Management at 373-2742 Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm. You will need to provide your name, address, phone number and whether you are reporting a home, business or industry.

For more information regarding the SBA Disaster Loan Program, contact Don Helege with North Carolina Emergency Management at (919) 733-3219 Monday through Friday between 8 am and 5 pm.
