Yard Waste Requirements Temporarily Relaxed
The City of Greensboro is temporarily relaxing yard waste requirements due to the large number of downed trees and limbs from the ongoing ice storm. Normally, tree limbs and yard waste should be placed in containers that are no larger than 32 gallons and no heavier than 50 pounds, placed in clear plastic bags no heavier than 50 pounds or tied in bundles not more than 5 feet long and no heavier than 50 pounds. Because so many trees and limbs have fallen throughout the city, those requirements are indefinitely suspended.
City crews request that residents move tree limbs as close to the curb as possible but not in the street. Please be patient until crews can remove your yard debris - there are large volumes of debris to pick up throughout the city and crews are working extra hours to remove it.
To report trees blocking city streets, call Greensboro Police Communications at 373-2222.
