City Employees Test Drive Hybrid Cars April 8, 2003
City of Greensboro employees will be introduced to the City's new Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles on Thursday, April 10 at 8 am. At that time, employees will have the opportunity to test drive the vehicles, get the feel of them and learn how the City will use the hybrids. New Assistant City Manager Bob Morgan will be among the first to take a test drive.
The hybrid vehicles are part of a new and comprehensive program the City is unveiling to encourage a more environmentally friendly community. They allow City employees to perform official City business while saving fuel and money, as well as reducing air pollution.
The new hybrids are housed in the underground parking area at the Melvin Municipal Office Building, where employees can check them out for use. Through computer technology, employees will be able to check the availability of the hybrids from their desktops via a camera on the City's internal homepage.
