“Buses to Books” Program Begins June 16 June 3, 2003
The Greensboro Transit Authority and the Greensboro Public Library will once again partner to encourage children to visit the Library weekly through the “Buses to Books” program.
The 10-week program seeks to promote literacy among children ages 6-17, as well as encourage ridership on GTA buses. Students who show their library card at any GPL location will receive a free weekly bus pass. The passes will be color-coded each week to encourage students to visit the Library at least once a week. In addition, children who participate in the program are invited to write an essay at the end of the program, sharing their experiences on the bus and at the Library. The essays will be judged and winners in three age groups will be recognized by the GTA Board and given a special award.
“Buses to Books” begins June 16 and continues through Aug. 24. For more information, visit your local public library or call the GTA office at 373-2634.
