Get in Shape with Channel 13!

The City of Greensboro's Government Access Channel 13 and Parks and Recreation Department are partnering to offer a new exercise video for senior citizens and others who might have limited mobility. The newly produced videos will air on Channel 13 each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:00am and 1:00pm, beginning February 2.

Channel 13 produced the videos in cooperation with the Smith Senior Recreation Center, a senior citizen facility, which offers a wide variety of programs for seniors in our community. The programs were produced at the request of Parks & Recreation Seniors Unit Coordinator Cindy Hipp, who sees the programs as an outreach effort to people who might be homebound, but also to introduce other citizens to the wide array of activities at Smith Senior Center.

Instructor Marya Lehmann leads the exercise videos, a part of the AHOY - Add Health to Our Years - program. The videos offer three forms of exercise; High Impact for Seniors, Intermediate Exercise for Seniors, and Exercise for Arthritis Patients or those with limited mobility.

Located at 2401 Fairview Street, Smith Center offers a wide variety of programs including indoor swimming, water aerobics, a fitness room, gym walkers, senior exercise programs, line dancing and special interest classes as well as community groups for our citizens to join.

Channel 13 Producer Christopher Bullard served as producer/director of the videos, with assistance from the entire Channel 13 staff. For more information on programs at Smith Senior Center, contact Cindy Hipp at 375-2237. For Channel 13 information, call 333-6922.
