"Finding the Tools, Breaking the Ice" Historic Tax Credit Workshop
The City of Greensboro, Downtown Greensboro, Inc. and Preservation Greensboro, Inc. present “Finding the Tools, Breaking the Ice”, a Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Workshop designed to provide information on historic tax credit codes, standards and practical applications for both commercial and residential properties. Learn about the tools you can use to earn Tax Credits – building codes, Standards for Rehabilitation, the Tax Credit Application and IRS rules. The workshop will also provide an opportunity to utilize these tools in a practical exercise using the Colonial Ice House, a vacant City-owned building in downtown Greensboro as a Tax Credit project.
The two-day workshop will be held March 5 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and March 6 from 8:30 am – 12 pm at The Depot, 300 East Washington Street. Friday’s workshop is geared towards commercial property owners and Saturday’s workshop focuses on residential tax credits. Individuals interested in rehabilitation and restoration, owners of National Register properties or properties located in a National Register Historic District, real estate agents, attorneys, accountants and developers are welcome to attend either or both sessions.
The workshop is a direct result of Connections 2025, the City of Greensboro’s comprehensive plan, which calls for increased emphasis on the importance of historic properties in the community. The workshop is free, but registration is required. For more information, call 373-2349 or visit www.greensboro-nc.gov/comp_plan and click on Events.
