Public Comments on Draft 2007-2013 Transportation Plan Accepted through New Year
GREENSBORO, NC -- (December 19, 2006) -- The Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) continues to offer the public an opportunity to review and submit comments on the Draft Greensboro Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) for fiscal years 2007 to 2013. The MTIP is the official transportation investment schedule for state and federal funded highway, public transportation, rail, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and transportation enhancement projects in Guilford County except for Burlington, Gibsonville, High Point, Jamestown, and Whitsett.
The public is also invited to submit comments on the Draft Public Participation Plan. The Public Participation Plan (PPP) is the official policy regarding the public involvement process of the Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. It is intended to provide citizens with an idea of what types of public involvement opportunities can be expected during the course of an MPO plan, study, or project. It also guides MPO staff in executing public involvement policies.
This public review and comment period scheduled to end in January is an opportunity for interested citizens to learn more about the Draft MTIP and Draft PPP. Comments received during this period will be considered by the MPO in further development of the MTIP and PPP. Comments on the Draft MTIP will be shared with NCDOT, the Greensboro Transit Authority, and the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation.
The Draft MTIP and Draft PPP is available for review online at www.guampo.org and at the offices of Guilford County Commissioners, Greensboro City Clerk, Greensboro Department of Transportation, NCDOT Division 7, the NCA&TSU Library, the UNC-G Library, all Greensboro Public Libraries, and Town Clerks of Oak Ridge, Pleasant Garden, Sedalia, Stokesdale, and Summerfield. Please contact the Greensboro DOT at 373-3117 if you need assistance in gaining access to the documents.
