Sixteenth Street to Close for Bridge Replacement
GREENSBORO (December 21, 2006) – The City of Greensboro announces the closing of Sixteenth Street between Hubbard and Yanceyville Streets beginning Wednesday, January 3, 2007. The portion of roadway is expected to remain closed to through traffic for one year. The closing is required for contractor APAC Atlantic, Inc. to begin replacement of the Billy Crash Craddock Bridge that crosses Norfolk Southern Railroad at Sixteenth Street. The earlier planned closing date of November 27 was postponed to resolve railroad related issues.
Barring construction delays, the new bridge and roadway will open to traffic in January 2008. Detour routes will be clearly marked for motorists during this time.
