City Offices to Close in Observance of New Year's Day

GREENSBORO, NC (December 27, 2006) – City of Greensboro offices will be closed on Monday, January 1, in observance of New Year’s Day. The holiday schedule affects a number of City services, including:

  • Garbage collection – No garbage, recycling, bulk trash, yard waste or appliance pick-up services will occur on Monday, January 1. Monday’s trash collection will take place on Tuesday, January 2. Tuesday’s trash collection will take place on Wednesday, January 3. Thursday and Friday collections remain unchanged. 
  • Garbage disposal – The White Street Landfill and Solid Waste Transfer Station will be closed on Monday and will reopen on Tuesday. 
  • Libraries – All branches of the Greensboro Public Library will be closed on Monday and will reopen on Tuesday.
  • Historical Museum – The Greensboro Historical Museum will be closed on Monday, January 1 through Friday, January 5 for the holiday and for inventory. The Museum will reopen on Saturday, January 6.
  • Public transportation – There will be no GTA bus service on Monday. Normal schedules resume on Tuesday.
