Harry and the Potters Will Rock The Library - Thursday, January 4, at 7 pm
“It’s never too loud to read!” says Paul and Joe DeGeorge aka Harry and the Potters. The Boston duo returns to the Greensboro Public Library on Thursday, January 4, at 7 pm. Inspired by the popular series from British author J.K. Rowling, the DeGeorge Brothers bring the charismatic title character to life armed with guitars, electric keyboard and a punk attitude.
The DeGeorge brothers have been rocking basements, bookstores, libraries and bathrooms all over America for the past three years with songs like "Wizard Chess," "Save Ginny Weasley," and "Voldemort Can’t Stop the Rock." And if you don’t think libraries and rock and roll go together, Harry and the Potters might change your mind.
"We thought it would be funny to start playing rock shows in libraries. The juxtaposition is very nice," said Joe, who sings and plays keyboard for the band. "The library is a quiet place; you usually don't hear about bands rocking out there," added Paul, who plays guitar and also sings.
"We get a pretty good spread," Joe said, "high school girls, hipsters, all sorts. We're able to expose all these different types of people to something new. My favorite shows are the ones that bring people together. Once we played in this art-house/garage place. There were mothers bringing their little kids to see the show, and there were all these dirty art people around ... it was great."
"It's important to rock and read," Joe said. "Almost equally important," Paul added.
Last year Harry and the Potters played to a packed house in the Central Library Rotunda. Fans even traveled from South Carolina and Virginia to hear the duo. Don't miss this exciting show!
