Author Visit With Tia McCollors
GREENSBORO, NC (June 7, 2006) – Book Signing & Writer’s Workshop at Vance Chavis Library
In a time when the publishing industry is inundated with books with sexually-driven plots and characters with less than moral intentions, Tia’s writing provides a refreshing outlet and solace to readers. Tia desires to bring a new voice to the Christian fiction genre with more works that inspire and lead readers to the heart of God.
An avid reader, creative writing has always been Tia’s passion. After being laid off from a job in 1999, she recalls questioning her purpose in life and going through a soul-searching experience. What she found was her destiny to creatively minister the Gospel through the power of the pen.
Her debut novel, A Heart of Devotion, (January 2005) was named an Essence Bestseller and was also chosen as a Black Expressions pick. In addition to writing novels for the adult market, Tia is penning a series of children’s early chapter books targeted towards girls, ages 7-9.
Tia is a member of the national American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) organization, and currently serves as the vice president for Visions In Print (VIP), the Atlanta Southeast Chapter of the ACFW. She is also actively involved in on-line author networks and continues to participate in a writer’s critique group she co-founded in 2003.
A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Tia is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. Over the years, she has built a career as a public relations professional. Tia resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and son.
