Downtown Design Kickoff
Public is invited to April 12 meeting at the Elm Street Center

GREENSBORO – Downtown Greensboro is changing! In the past few years, renewed interest and development in the downtown area has blossomed, creating an exciting buzz for the area throughout North Carolina. With increased interest in the area from residents, property owners, and developers, the City is poised to encourage new development that celebrates downtown Greensboro’s unique character and the areas that support it.

On Thursday, April 12, the City of Greensboro will hold a kickoff meeting to gain public feedback and garner interest in creating a design and compatibility manual that will guide future development in downtown. This is an opportunity for the City to hear about the parts of the built environment that are important to our community.  The manual will seek to encourage high quality design and infill as stated in Greensboro’s adopted comprehensive plan, Connections 2025.  By providing a flexible framework, the manual will strive to enhance our urban character, promote a variety of design, and maintain long-term compatibility.

Anyone interested in the look of downtown’s future buildings should come to the Regency Room at the Elm Street Center on April 12 from 6 - 8 pm.  For more information, contact Mary Sertell at 373-4769.
