Water Pressure Restored
Customers Should Experience No Further Changes to Water Pressure

GREENSBORO, NC (August 21, 2007) – Optimal water pressure has been restored to City water customers in the Tankersley Drive area following a water main break during construction activities this morning. Customers should experience no further changes in water pressure as repair work takes place.

City officials said the feeder line from Mitchell Water Treatment Plant was damaged by a track hoe around mid-morning. Customers in the area experienced a temporary loss of water pressure that was restored around 1:30 pm. City staff turned off the valve to the feeder main to isolate the broken portion of the line, and contractors on site will repair the line on Wednesday, August 22. Water quality was unaffected as a result of the broken feeder line.

Water Resources staff estimates that less than half a million gallons of water were lost before the valve was turned off.
