HEAT Announces Service Enhancements for Saturday Get Down!Town Event
Off-Campus Shuttle Routes Will Provide Direct Service Downtown

GREENSBORO – (September 6, 2007) – Higher Education Area Transit (HEAT) once again offers convenient options for traveling downtown for the annual Get Down!Town college student welcome-back party.

New this year, Routes 73 (UNCG HEAT) and 75 (NCA&T HEAT) will operate until 12 midnight on Saturday, September 8. In addition, 73 and 75 will temporarily extend their normal routes to include a stop at the J. Douglas Galyon Depot adjacent to the Get Down!Town event area. This will eliminate the need to change buses on campus in order to travel downtown. These routes will operate on a 30-minute frequency throughout the evening. The temporary schedule is available at www.rideheat.com

HEAT Routes 70/71 (Weekend HEAT) will follow the normal route, but will place additional vehicles into service for anticipated demand. These routes will run as late as 3 am Sunday morning, enabling attendees to access convenient and safe transportation during the entire event.  Additionally, Greensboro Transit Authority offers a number of weekend routes with downtown destinations.  Route information and schedules are available at www.greensboro-nc.gov/gta

Fares for GTA and HEAT are only $1.10 per trip with free transfers. However, qualified students of HEAT partner schools can access HEAT and GTA fare-free using their student identification cards or HEAT semester fare-cards provided by their institution.
