City Plans Two More Meetings on Annexation

GREENSBORO, NC (October 17, 2007) – Residents and property owners in the proposed annexation areas may choose to attend any of three meetings planned by the City of Greensboro.

The primary public information meeting will take place on Thursday, October 25 at 7 pm at Grimsley High School auditorium, 801 Westover Terrace. During this meeting, attendees will hear a formal presentation by City staff and will have an opportunity to talk individually with representatives from many City departments.

The two remaining meetings will not include a formal presentation. However, attendees will still be able to talk with staff from City departments to learn more about the services offered by the City following annexation.

The two supplemental drop-in meetings are set for:
• Tuesday, October 30, 6-8 pm at Leonard Recreation Center, 6324 Ballinger Road, and
• Thursday, November 1, 6-8 pm at Replacements Ltd., 1089 Knox Road

“These meetings provide an excellent opportunity for people in the annexation areas to have all of their questions answered,” said Planning Director Dick Hails. “We encourage those residents and property owners in the annexation areas to attend any of these meetings to learn more about becoming residents of the City of Greensboro.”

All three meetings are open to the public.

Annexation information is also available on the City’s website at www.greensboro-nc.gov/annexation. Features of the website include an interactive map that allows users to enter their address to find out if they are included in the proposed annexation areas, reports on how the City plans to extend municipal services into the proposed annexation areas, sample costs per household, and a list of frequently asked questions. In addition, residents may call 373-CITY (2489) for answers to their annexation questions.

A public hearing on the proposed annexations will take place at the City Council meeting on Monday, November 5.

For more information on any of these meetings, contact the Planning Department at 373-2144. Meeting attendees who need an interpreter or any other auxiliary aid or service may contact Donna Gray at 373-2723.
