Friends of the Library to Hold Annual Meeting

The Friends of the Greensboro Public Library will hold their annual meeting this Sunday at the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch, 1420 Price Park Road. As part of the annual event, the Friends will honor a local literary figure.

This year's Literary Laurel is storyteller Logie Meachum. A Greensboro native, Meachum combines storytelling, music, dance and laughter into his unique and entertaining performances. In many stories, he talks about the influence of his family and the way most of his relatives used words as a form of entertainment.

Education and entertainment have been Logie’s life-long passions and he has traveled all over the country sharing his talents. For Logie storytelling is, “History with laughter and song. A lot of good stories, whether they’re true or not, are exemplary because they deal with these American myths and folkways that we can’t do without.”
