City’s Response to Local Attorney’s Statement
GREENSBORO, NC -- (March 6, 2008) – Attorneys working for the City of Greensboro have no recollection of Officer Julius Fulmore reporting to them that documents related to the Klan-Nazi shootings were destroyed. The City’s attorneys are confident that they would be unlikely to have forgotten such a statement, but to ensure that this concern has been fully addressed, they have reviewed the transcript of the taped interview of Officer Fulmore and have found no mention of the alleged destruction of files.
Attorneys will next review the actual tape to verify that nothing was omitted in the transcription, to be certain that public concerns raised by Fulmore’s statement are fully and thoroughly addressed.
The Greensboro Police Department, meanwhile, is continuing its internal investigation of the alleged document destruction, including interviews with the appropriate parties.
