 Public Meeting to Address New Stormwater Management Plan

GREENSBORO, NC – (April 11, 2008) – The City of Greensboro Stormwater Management Division recently completed the stormwater management plan, and would like to request comments from the public. The document is a regulatory component of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) discharge permit.

Authorized by the Clean Water Act, the NPDES permitting program controls water pollution by regulating sources in various communities throughout the United States.

The City of Greensboro received its initial NPDES permit in December 1994 from the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water Quality. The permit was renewed on June 1, 2007 for a five-year period.

“The City of Greensboro Stormwater Management Division will continue to work hard to implement the requirements of the permit, that is why it is so important that we receive comments from the public,” says David Phlegar, Water Quality Supervisor.

A public meeting will be held on Monday, April 14 at 5:30 pm in the Lake Townsend Conference Room of the J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center located at 2602 S. Elm-Eugene St., Greensboro. The Stormwater Management Plan is available for review online at www.greensboro-nc.gov/stormwater. Comments must be submitted in writing to David Phlegar, Water Quality Supervisor at 2602 S. Elm-Eugene St., Greensboro, NC 27406 or david.phlegar@greensboro-nc.gov by April 30.
