Piedmont Triad Invites Commuters to Try Pedal Power on Friday, May 30
GREENSBORO, NC – (May 28, 2008) –The City of Greensboro Department of Transportation along with other local organizations will offer the Piedmont Triad’s “Bike to Work Day” this Friday, May 30 between 7 and 9:30 am.
The event is an opportunity for residents to experience the benefits of commuting by bicycle in the midst of rising fuel prices and traffic congestion. A number of “refueling stops” will be available in the area for riders to take a break and receive refreshments and prizes. The stops can be found at the following locations:
• Governmental Plaza, Greene Street and February One Place, downtown Greensboro • Hayes Taylor YMCA, 1101 East Market Street, Greensboro • Spring Garden Bakery, 1932 Spring Garden Street, Greensboro
The refueling stations will serve as the final local event planned for National Bike Month. The event is sponsored by Ped Power, Piedmont Triad Council of Governments Bicycle and Pedestrian Program, Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation, Bicycling in Greensboro, North Carolina Air Awareness, Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, Burlington-Graham Metropolitan Planning Organization and High Point Metropolitan Planning Organization.
