Greensboro Fire Department Sponsors Smoke Detector Drive

GREENSBORO, NC -- (June 16, 2008) -- On Saturday, June 21 from 10 am to 2 pm, Greensboro Firefighters will be in area neighborhoods offering free smoke detectors with installation.

The number one way to prevent a residential fire is by having a working smoke detector in your home. So, if you don't have a detector or you don’t know if it's in good working order, firefighters will install a new one for you.

To schedule installation for Saturday, please call the Department’s Community Services Office at (336) 574-4088 or the Fire Prevention Bureau at (336) 373-2177 and leave your name, address and phone number.

As with all of Greensboro Fire Department’s community programs, all smoke detectors and batteries are provided free of charge.
