GREENSBORO, NC – (June 20, 2008) – A number of Greensboro area groups are partnering to host a community night out at Peeler Recreation Center next week.
Love, Youth, Faith, Empowerment (LYFE), a faith-based initiative to guide young adults away from gang activity, is teaming up with the Guilford Police Athletics League (GPAL), the Greensboro Police Department, Outreach Missionary Baptist Church, and other groups to sponsor the event for youth on Friday, June 27, from 5 to 8:30 pm.
Parents are invited to a parent rap session from 6 to 6:30 pm. The event will also include entertainment, games, prizes, food, music, dancing, and a teen chat session with radio and TV personality Busta Brown from 97.1 WQMG radio. Food will be served from 5 to 6:30 pm, followed by other activities. Those who would like to stay after the activities may play basketball in the recreation center until 10 pm.
This event is the kick-off for GPAL’s Friday night basketball program at Peeler.
