GREENSBORO, NC (June 25, 2008) – Beginning July 1, the City of Greensboro will provide residential collection service to newly annexed areas. Garbage, yard waste, and bulk waste will be collected on a weekly basis. Recycling will be picked up every other week. Large appliances will be collected by appointment – residents should call 373-CITY (2489) to schedule pickup.
In early June, 95-gallon roll-out garbage and recycling containers were delivered to all households in the annexation area, along with information explaining services and the every- other-week recycling collection schedule. During July, newly annexed residents may buy an additional 95-gallon recycling container for $30. After July 31, the price will be $70.
The Cardinal, West Market / Triad Drive, Brookrun, and Cardinal Manor areas will have Tuesday collection service. Their first collection day will be Tuesday, July 1. Cardinal Manor residents with dumpster service will receive service on Mondays and Thursdays. Their first collection will be Thursday, July 3.
Holden Crossing, Timber Creek, Southbrook / Shoffner, Diamond Hill, and Mt. Hope Church Road will have Friday collection. Although July 4 is a holiday, in order to ensure new residents have collection service, the City will collect in these areas on Thursday, July 3, and Friday, July 4.
Republic Waste Services, the current trash provider in the areas to be annexed, will continue to serve customers in the annexed areas through June 27. Residents with questions about bills from Republic should call Republic at 299-0815.
