Improvements at Bridford & E. Wendover Begin July 7
GREENSBORO, NC -- (July 3, 2008) – Construction begins July 7 on the final portion of a project at the W. Wendover-Bridford Parkway intersection. The work will include widening the right turn lane, creating a turn-out for GTA buses, installing sidewalks, and repairing and resurfacing the intersection.
According to Butch Simmons, director of engineering & inspections, the project is expected to be completed by the end of November. Sidewalks and other improvements have already been made to most of the area bordering W. Wendover from I-40 to Bridford Parkway.
Completion of the project had been held up due to difficulties in acquiring right of way access. Those issues have been resolved. City Council last month approved the nearly $1.5 million contract with Yates Construction Company to complete the project.
The improvements are part of the 2000 bond program passed by voters to enhance both vehicle and pedestrian traffic along the Edwardia Drive/Bridford Parkway corridor.
