Tip-a-Cop Fundraiser for Special Olympics Set for July 18

GREENSBORO, NC – (July 14, 2008) – On Friday, July 18, the Greensboro Police Department and Guilford Metro 911 will team up with Longhorn Steakhouse restaurants in the annual Tip-a-Cop fundraising event for Special Olympics. Both Greensboro locations of Longhorn Steakhouse – 2925 Battleground Avenue and 6012 Landmark Center Boulevard – will participate.

During the event, members of the GPD and GM911 will help the wait staff at each restaurant from 5 pm to 10 pm by delivering bread and non-alcoholic beverages and by providing refills. Customers will be asked to make a donation, above their wait staff tip, which will be given to Special Olympics.

In addition to assisting the wait staff, members of the GPD and GM911 will offer Special Olympics t-shirts and hats for sale, as well as GPD challenge coins. All proceeds raised will benefit Special Olympics of North Carolina, and a majority of the funds will remain in Guilford County.
