Transportation Funding and Air Quality Analysis Documents Released

GREENSBORO, NC -- (July 16, 2008) -- The Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) announces a public review and comment period for two federally required transportation planning documents. The Final Draft 2009-2015 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) and the Draft Air Quality Conformity Determination Report are available for review from July 17 through August 15, 2008.

The MTIP is the official funding schedule for the near term, with details through 2015 on transportation projects with state and federal funding. The Conformity document analyzes the area’s compliance with federal regulations linking transportation planning with air quality.

Due to delays in obtaining regulatory approvals, the 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is not part of this public review period. The LRTP is the official vision for the area’s highway, public transportation, freight, bicycle, and pedestrian projects. The updated version will outline transportation improvements through the year 2035 and is expected to be available for review by April 2009.

You may download draft documents at www.guampo.org and comment online. We also accept comments by phone, fax, or mail at the contact information above. Comments are due August 15.
