District Attorney Makes Determination Regarding Alleged File Destruction

GREENSBORO, NC -- (February 29, 2008) -- Guilford County District Attorney Douglas Henderson has reviewed allegations that Greensboro police officers destroyed police files related to the November 3, 1979 Nazi-Klan murders in Greensboro. Today, Henderson notified the Police Department that, without knowing the contents of the files, he did not think the actions, if substantiated, would be illegal due to the age of the files.

Chief Tim Bellamy has directed that an internal inquiry by conducted to determine if any actions by GPD personnel constitute a violation of GPD directives or standard operating procedures.
