Former City Employee Faces New Charges
in Connection with Thefts from Parking Meters

GREENSBORO, NC – (April 18, 2008) – A former City of Greensboro employee has been charged with felony larceny, misdemeanor breaking or entering of a coin-operated device, and misdemeanor larceny in connection with recent thefts from parking meters.

On Thursday, April 17, Greensboro Police served three warrants on Wesley Alan Gregory, 52, of 5001 Shoreline Drive, at the magistrate’s office. Gregory was terminated by the City of Greensboro on December 20, 2007 after he was charged with embezzlement in connection with the theft of about $2,550 from city parking meters.

Police said the three new charges are related to thefts that occurred after Gregory’s termination from the City. The warrants issued yesterday charge Gregory with taking more than $1,000 from the meters, as well as stealing meter keys from the City.

Gregory had been a City employee since 1983. He worked in the Parking Meter Operations Section of the City’s Transportation Department.
