Coliseum Complex to Host 110th Annual Central Carolina Fair September 12-21
GREENSBORO, NC -- (August 6, 2008) -- The 110th annual Central Carolina Fair will light up the sky around the Greensboro Coliseum Complex once again this fall from Friday, September 12 through Sunday, September 21. This year's event features spectacular rides, carnival food and games, thousands of exhibits brought to you by local 4-H groups, the Carolina Feather Fanciers poultry show and Sandhills Rabbit Fanciers rabbit show, and wholesome family entertainment and attractions for everyone.
The 110th annual Central Carolina Fair’s attractions include:
- Central Carolina Fair 4H Competitive Exhibits. The Central Carolina Fair exhibition area will again be organized and operated by Guilford County 4-H leaders and include over 300 exhibits. The exhibit area will be located in the Central Carolina Fair Pavilion as hundreds of prizes will be awarded for entries in dozens of agriculture and horticulture categories, baked goods, arts and crafts and antiques. Over $13,000 in prize money will be offered in competitive exhibits.
- Carolina Feather Fanciers Poultry Show. The poultry show will feature approximately 400 birds on display in the Pavilion throughout the fair’s 10-day run. One of the largest fair poultry shows in North Carolina, the show is sanctioned by the American Poultry Association and the American Bantam Association.
- Sandhills Rabbit Show. Returning to the Central Carolina Fair will be the popular Sandhills Rabbit Show. Award winning rabbits will be on display in the Pavilion throughout the fair’s 10-day run.
- Circle C Farms Racing Pigs. One of the most popular attractions of recent years, pig racing will return for the 2008 Central Carolina Fair. Set up with a 100-foot oval track in the Midway, the “Hogway Speedway” will be the site for fun-filled “heats” of pig, goat and duck races. The competing pigs are outfitted with saddles and popular NASCAR numbers, and are given names such as “Squealing Earnhardt Jr.,” “Piggy Gordon,” and “Hoggy Jarrett.” Once the flag drops, all of the animals will be shooting for the prize Cheez Doodles that await the winner of each race. The “Hogway Speedway” races will run several times daily.
- Central Carolina Fair Animal Exhibit. The Central Carolina Fair animal exhibit will be set up in the Midway. Featuring exotic and traditional farm animals and pony rides, the animal exhibit is always one of the most popular attractions for fairgoers young and old.
- Victoria Circus. Appearing for multiple performances on Friday, September 12 through Sunday, September 14, the Victoria Circus features a sensational highwire show by Walter and Victoria Murcia, the Victory Riders Motorcycle Globe of Death, motorcycle incline highwire, Victoria circus clowns, Wally’s comedy trampoline and much, much more.
- Demolition Derby – Friday, September 19. The Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center will again be the site of crashing metal mayhem as local contestants match wits and driving ability! Returning to the Central Carolina Fair for the first time in three years, an indoor auto demolition derby will feature local and out-of-state drivers competing for prize money. To be held on Friday, September 19 at 7 pm, the Derby is free with paid fair admission.
- Midway. The 2008 midway will be filled with spectacular rides and shows courtesy of Deggeller Attractions. Along with carnival games and a mouth watering selection of Fair foods, a thrilling selection of rides awaiting fairgoers including Supershot 100-foot Drop Tower, Cliffhanger, Wiggle Worm and Typhoon.

ADMISSION Opening Night - Free Admission Regular Admission - $5 adults. Seniors and children 10 and under free. Unlimited Ride Wristbands - $20 adults, $15 kids 10 and under (available every day). Individual ride tickets also available. After 9 pm on each Saturday - $25 (includes admission plus unlimited ride wristband)
