High Point Road / West Lee Street Meeting Set for October 22
Community to Receive Draft Corridor Plan

GREENSBORO, NC -- (October 10, 2008) -- The City of Greensboro will host a meeting on Wednesday, October 22 to present the full draft Plan for enhancing High Point Road and West Lee Street, from South Eugene Street to Interstate 40.  The meeting will take place from 6-8 pm at the Doubletree Hotel located at 3030 High Point Road, next to Interstate 40.

During the meeting, the public will have the opportunity to review and comment on recommended actions to create significant new public and private investment, enhance the area’s overall appearance and function and improve levels of public safety and perception.

This meeting will include both a formal presentation and discussion that will begin around 6:30 p.m. and an informal time before and after for residents to individually review various pieces of the Corridor Plan with City staff.  This meeting will also begin a public comment period on the Plan in anticipation of public hearings with the Planning Board and City Council before adoption in the next few months.

The High Point Road / West Lee Street area is identified in the City’s Comprehensive Plan as one of several areas that would benefit from increased economic investment and visual improvements. Additional information on the Plan can be found at http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/departments/Planning/compplan/highpointrdwleest.htm. Questions or requests for information should be addressed to Mike Kirkman at 373-4649.
