Former Offenders Can Be ‘Untapped Resources’ for Employers

GREENSBORO, NC – (November 14, 2008) – A breakfast program next week will provide information to employers who have questions about hiring former offenders.

Presented by the Offender Employment Coalition, the program, titled, “A Break-thru Breakfast: Discovering Untapped Resources,” will give employers an opportunity to hear from companies who have hired former offenders and to learn how that move has worked for them. Benefits of hiring former offenders include tax credits of up to $2,400, Federal Bonding Program insurance, and Workforce Development business services.

This free program takes place on Tuesday, November 18, from 8-9 am in the GMA Community Room, 225 Commerce Place. Registration is required, and seating is limited. For more information, or to register, call 373-2018.

The program is co-sponsored by the Greensboro Police Department, the Greensboro Merchants Association, the Greensboro / High Point / Guilford County Workforce Development Board and Apple Spice Junction Catering.
