New GTA Route 15 Service to Begin on September 1

GREENSBORO, NC – August 29, 2008 – Labor Day Monday, September 1 will mark the launch of Greensboro Transit Authority’s newest transit bus route. GTA Route 15 Yanceyville Street / Brightwood School Road will provide additional public transportation services to the north Greensboro area reaching Brightwood School and Lees Chapel Roads.

Similar to GTA’s current 14 daily routes, Route 15 will depart on a fixed schedule from the central transportation hub at the J. Douglas Galyon Depot downtown. Destinations to be served by Route 15 include the Greensboro Central Library, Children’s Museum, Rankin and Brightwood Elementary Schools, Aycock Middle School, Wal-Mart on Cone Boulevard and Guilford County Department of Social Services (DSS).

GTA passengers who currently use Route 6 Summit Avenue to visit Wal-Mart and DSS will find Route 15 a convenient, less congested alternative.

Like all GTA routes, access to Route 15 is available using cash fares, pre-purchased fare cards, free transfer tickets, HEAT fare cards and approved school-issued identification cards. The buses also contain accommodations for persons with disabilities.

Route 15 schedules and maps are available at the Depot, Greensboro Public Library or online at www.greensboro-nc.gov/gta. Questions about using Route 15 or any GTA route can be directed to GTA Customer Service at 335-6499.
