Greensboro Department of Transportation Recognizes Bicycle Safety Month
GREENSBORO, NC – (September 5, 2008) – With the increase of bicycles and motor vehicles sharing our roadways, Greensboro Department of Transportation has recognized the need for additional focus on bicycle safety and has designated September as Bicycle Safety Month. Following a summer of record gas prices, more people are turning to alternative forms of transportation including bicycle use. Although bicycle safety is a year-round responsibility, this event will allow GDOT to place special emphasis on the laws, rules and responsibilities associated with using pedal power.
Applicable to bicyclists and motorists alike, a number of events will take place this month with the goal of educating and encouraging safe cycling. For a full list of related activities and other bicycling information, visit the city’s bicycling website at www.gsosharestheroad.org.
The Greensboro Department of Transportation (GDOT) seeks to increase public safety and mobility through the effective planning and delivery of transportation services and operation of municipal transit.
