City Contact Center Answering Non-Emergency Police Calls

GREENSBORO, NC – (September 15, 2008) – The City of Greensboro’s Contact Center is now answering non-emergency calls for the Watch Operations section of the Greensboro Police Department. Calls to 373-2496 are now redirected to the Contact Center, where customer service representatives can respond to general questions and provide basic information about the Greensboro Police Department.

“One of the values provided by a centralized contact center is that we can handle non-emergency police calls,” said Contact Center Manager Mary Jutte. “This change will be virtually transparent to the caller, but the end result is that we are enabling the Police Department to focus its time and efforts on non-routine calls rather than responding to questions that can be answered by other staff members.”

During hours when the Contact Center is closed, the calls will be answered by Watch Operations staff.

The City’s Contact Center answers thousands of calls every month on such topics as water bills, trash collection, road repairs, and a multitude of other questions about City services. Since its opening in 2004, the Contact Center has answered more than 700,000 calls.

To reach the Contact Center, call 373-CITY (2489). City Services Representatives (CSRs) are available Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm, to answer your questions about the City of Greensboro. You may also chat online with a CSR during business hours.
