Response to Questions About Assistant City Manager

GREENSBORO, NC – (October 17, 2008) – At today’s media conference concerning actions to preempt budgetary difficulties as a result of economic issues, several questions were raised about the hiring of a new Assistant City Manager. This question was sent to the City Manager yesterday by a concerned resident, and he replied with a thorough explanation to her (and copied City Council on his response). As Mayor Yvonne Johnson pointed out in the press conference, the filling of this position was a high priority for Council, and the City was fortunate to be able to select a highly qualified person whom Council praised in the meeting this afternoon. As further background for those with questions, we are providing the letter written by the Manager to the resident who inquired.
