Public Hearing Set for High Point Road / West Lee Street Corridor Plan
GREENSBORO, NC – (October 31, 2008) – The City of Greensboro Planning Department has scheduled a public hearing to begin the adoption process for the High Point Road / West Lee Street Corridor Plan. The public hearing will take place on Wednesday, November 19, starting at 2 pm, before the City’s Planning Board in Council Chamber of the Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 West Washington Street. The public hearing follows a community meeting on October 22, at which the full draft of the plan was presented.
The High Point Road / West Lee Street area is identified in the City’s Comprehensive Plan as one of several areas that would benefit from increased economic investment and visual improvements. During the November 19 public hearing, residents can speak in support of the plan or in opposition to it. Following comments from the public, the Planning Board will make an official recommendation on the plan’s adoption. Then, the plan will go to the Greensboro City Council for an additional public hearing and final action. The tentative hearing date for City Council’s consideration is Tuesday, December 16, starting at 6 pm.
The latest version of the plan, which includes revisions based on public comments from the October 22 meeting, can be found online at www.greensboro-nc.gov/departments/Planning/compplan/highpointrdwleest.htm.
