City Offices to Close in Observance of New Year’s Day
GREENSBORO, NC -- (December 23, 2008) – City of Greensboro offices will be closed on Thursday, January 1, in observance of New Year’s Day. The following services and facilities will operate on a holiday schedule:
- No garbage, recycling, bulk trash, yard waste and appliance collections will take place Thursday, January 1. Thursday’s collection will take place Wednesday, December 31. Friday’s collection remains the same.
- The White Street Landfill and Solid Waste Transfer Station will both be closed on Thursday, January 1. Regular hours will resume Friday, January 2.
- The Greensboro Historical Museum and all branches of the Greensboro Public Library will be closed Thursday, January 1. Regular hours will resume Friday, January 2.
- The Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) will operate on a Saturday schedule from 6 am to 6 pm hourly on Wednesday, December 31. There will be no Lawndale and High Point Road Connector service or Irving Park Shuttle service. There will be no GTA service at all on Thursday, January 1. Regular service will resume Friday, January 2. SCAT will operate from 6 am to 6 pm on Wednesday, December 31, but will not operate on Thursday, January 1. Regular service will resume Friday, January 2. Also, there will be no HEAT service. It will resume later in January.
