Watch Inauguration At Library

GREENSBORO, NC -- (January 15, 2009) -- You are invited to watch the Presidential Inauguration on the big screen at Central Library on January 20 at 11 am.

  • Will Barack Obama swear or affirm?
  • Will his address be shorter than the shortest (just 135 words from Washington at his second Inauguration in 1793)?
  • Or longer than the longest (William Henry Harrison spoke 8,445 words in 1841)?

The Greensboro Public Library and Greensboro Historical Museum invite downtown residents, workers and anyone interested in seeing history being made to watch the ceremony on the big screen in the Nussbaum Meeting Room in Central Library, 219 N. Church St.

“The Library is a shining example of democracy in our community—as demonstrated in our commitment to equality of service and intellectual freedom. I can’t think of a better place for the community to gather for this event,” said Director Sandy Neerman.

Browse though the Library’s collection of Presidential biographies, and Inaugural histories. Use this as an opportunity to pick up your tax forms. Feel free to bring a bag lunch; drinks and dessert will be provided by the Friends of the Public Library.
