Celebrate Greensboro’s Parks and Recreation 75th Anniversary on June 27
GREENSBORO, NC -- (June 22, 2009) -- On Saturday, June 27, Greensboro’s Parks and Recreation Department will proudly celebrate its 75th Anniversary of Reaching Out, Touching Lives with an exciting community festival at Country Park, the city’s first park. Over the years, the Parks and Recreation Department has enjoyed strong support from City and County management, local businesses, schools, churches, civic clubs and residents of all ages. This anniversary festival will bring all of these people together in celebration of leisure recreation at its finest.
The festival takes place from 10 am to 4 pm at Country Park, 3902 Nathanael Greene Dr., with a Music for a Sunday Evening in the Park (MUSEP) concert at 6 pm. Admission to the festival and the concert is free. Nominal fees will be charged for various activities and vendor food.
Rain date is from 1-5 pm on Sunday, June 28.

June 27's festival schedule of events includes: 8 am: Benefit bike ride (riders meet at Shelter #1) 10 am – 4 pm: Games, arts, crafts, displays, entertainment, raffle, prizes and more 10 am: Opening Ceremonies – City officials, dignitaries and guests (near Shelter #7) 10:15 am: Festival Parade, encircling Country Park 6 pm: Music for a Sunday Evening in the Park concert (on stage, adjacent to Shelter #7)
