GPD Holds Statewide ATV Safety Training Class

GREENSBORO, NC -- (April 22, 2009) – All this week, the Greensboro Police Department (GPD) has trained law enforcement and safety personnel from across the state on all terrain vehicle (ATV) safety so they can go back to their communities and teach what they learned to their residents. But before they can be certified ATV safety instructors, they must first put what they learned to the test and teach a class on the topic.

On Thursday, April 23, beginning at 7:30 am, the group of potential instructors will hold a training class at Barber Park, 1500 Dans Rd., behind the tennis courts. There will be classroom instruction, as well as actual training on ATVs.

This is the second year that GPD has hosted the training class, which is sponsored by the N.C. Insurance Commission. The class is part of a statewide push for ATV safety and trains emergency responders on the state’s relatively new regulations regarding the operation of ATVs.
