The Dead Coming to Greensboro Coliseum in April Marks rockers first tour in five years
Greensboro, NC -- (January 14, 2009) -- The Dead will perform Sunday, April 12, at the Greensboro Coliseum. Tickets go on sale Saturday, January 24, at 10 am at livenation.com, the Greensboro Coliseum box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including participating Lowes Foods locations, and FYE and Macy’s stores. Original Dead members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart will be joined by keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and Allman Brothers Band/Gov’t Mule guitarist Warren Haynes. The group first formed with lead guitarist Jerry Garcia as the Grateful Dead in 1965 and is legendary for their live performances.
The Dead's upcoming tour marks its first national tour in five years. The 19-show tour will kick off in Greensboro on April 12 and wrap up May 10 near San Francisco.
The Grateful Dead has a storied history of playing in Greensboro, with five appearances at Greensboro Coliseum, including a two-night stint from March 31-April 1, 1991 that drew over 29,000 people.
