Public Hearing Draft of the Land Development Ordinance Now Available
GREENSBORO, NC -- (October 20, 2009) -- The City of Greensboro has today released its new Land Development Ordinance (LDO) - Public Hearing Draft and it can be reviewed online at www.greensboro-nc.gov/ldo. Hard copies of the draft can also be viewed in the Planning Department or City Clerk’s Office, Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 W. Washington St. Hard copies of the ordinance can also be purchased at the Planning Department for actual printing cost.
The LDO – Public Hearing Draft represents the largest update and overhaul of the City’s development regulations in nearly 20 years. The document is more user-friendly, provides more flexibility on standards, and encourages more urban infill and mixed use developments. The draft LDO is the result of five community input meetings, more than 37 resident advisory meetings, and nearly five years of joint City and community engagement.
Next step is a joint public hearing of the City’s Zoning Commission and Planning Board on November 16 to receive public comment on the draft LDO in advance of the City Council public hearing, tentatively planned for February 2010. The November 16 public hearing begins at 5:30 pm in Council Chambers, Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 W. Washington St.
For more information about the draft LDO or the city-wide rezoning process, call Rawls Howard at 373-2748 or Dick Hails at 373-2922 of the Planning Department.
