GTA Increases Service to Accommodate GTCC Students
GREENSBORO, NC – (August 14, 2009) – Anticipating increased demand of bus service to Guilford Technical Community College’s (GTCC) Jamestown Campus due to the loss of HEAT Route 74, Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) has announced changes to Routes 11 and 11A High Point Road Connector serving the school and its vicinity.
Starting Monday, August 17, GTA will add additional daily departures from Route 11/11A’s transfer point at Wintergarden Lane and Merritt Drive. The routes will depart daily at 7:50 am, 8:50 am, 11:50 am, 12:50 pm, 3:50 pm and 4:50 pm. The additional service will increase the frequency of the service from 60 minutes to 30 minutes during peak hours. Additional returning trips will also be made available, departing from GTCC to Wintergarden and Merritt at 8:30 am, 9:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm.
Because of the additional demand on GTA with the loss of HEAT Route 74 service, students and other users of Routes 11 and 11A are encouraged to modify their travel plans, allowing an extra 30 to 45 minutes for travel. Buses departing on the half-hour from the J. Douglas Galyon Depot will allow passengers to transfer to the additional connector trips at the transfer point. To assist travelers during the transition, GTA staff will be on hand at the Depot and the Wintergarden and Merritt transfer point August 17–19. Questions may be directed to the on-site staff or GTA Customer Service at 335-6499. To view all GTA and HEAT schedules, visit GTA's Web site or HEAT's Web site
