GTCC and Greensboro College No Longer Serviced by HEAT
GREENSBORO, NC -- (August 10, 2009) – The fall semester of Higher Education Area Transit (HEAT) services will begin Monday, August 17. With the start of the new school year, changes will be made to HEAT that will affect students that attend Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) and Greensboro College.
GTCC and Greensboro College have chosen not to renew their partnership with HEAT, resulting in the following operational changes:
- HEAT Route 74 will no longer provide express service to GTCC's Jamestown campus. Students will be able to access the campus using GTA Routes 11 and 11A.
- HEAT Route 70 will no longer make stops at GTCC's Wendover campus. The destination will continue to be served by GTA Route 10.
- HEAT Routes 71, 70/71 and 72 will not make stops at Greensboro College. The school will be serviced by GTA Routes 1, 7, 8, 9, 26 and 27.
- GTCC and Greensboro College students will not receive fare-free access to HEAT and GTA. Both services are still available by paying the normal fares with discounts available through multi-ride and unlimited ride passes.
HEAT is continuing to work with GTCC on transit options for students and any updates will be posted on HEAT's Web site. For more information about GTA and its services, call 336-373-2634 or visit its Web site.
