GPD Invited to Serve During Obama Inauguration
GREENSBORO, NC -- (January 15, 2009) -- The News & Record ran a story today regarding the Greensboro Police Department’s sending 50 officers to serve in Washington, DC from January 18-21 to assist with security at the Presidential Inaugural. All costs expended by the GPD will be reimbursed.
This assignment is an honor bestowed on only a few police forces across the country. Charlotte / Mecklenburg Police Department will also send 50-60 officers and NC’s Highway Patrol is sending officers as well. GPD officers will serve alongside Secret Service, Homeland Security and FBI personnel. This is the second time our Police Department has been selected for this honor.
