GYC Fall Membership Drive Underway
GREENSBORO, NC -- (September 15, 2009) -- Greensboro Youth Council's (GYC) fall membership drive is now underway. Guilford County high school students interested in learning volunteer and leadership skills while planning and implementing community service projects are encouraged to join GYC.
Orientation meetings for interested youth take place from 6-6:30 pm on September 17, October 1, and October 8 at the GYC office, 501 Yanceyville St. The meetings are a great chance to learn more about GYC in a social setting.
To become a member, a student must fill out an application form, pay a one-time fee of $10, attend an orientation, and volunteer 10 hours to the group. Application deadline is October 16. When accepted as a member, youth must volunteer a certain number of hours each month during the school year to remain in good standing.
Applications may be obtained at any Guilford County high school guidance office, the GYC office, or online at www.greensboro-nc.gov/leisure/gyc. For more information, call 373-2738.
