 City Offices to Close in Observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

 GREENSBORO, NC -- (January 9, 2009) – City of Greensboro offices will be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The following services and facilities will be affected:

  •  No garbage, recycling, bulk trash, yard waste and appliance collections will take place Monday, January 19. Monday’s collection will take place Tuesday, January 20. Tuesday’s collection will take place Wednesday, January 21.
  • The White Street Landfill and Solid Waste Transfer Station will both be closed Monday, January 19. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, January 20.
  • The Greensboro Historical Museum and all branches of the Greensboro Public Library will be closed Monday, January 19. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, January 20.
  • The Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) will operate from 5:30 am to 7 pm, hourly, on Monday, January 19; evening and connecting routes will run as normal. There will be no HEAT service on route 74; route 75 will run at a reduced frequency. Career Express and SCAT will operate normally. Regular operation on all GTA services will resume Tuesday, January 20. Get GTA updates sent directly to your cell phone by texting “follow gtaheat” to 40404.
